I teach systems analysis courses, and this book is an excellent text for us. It is easy to read, well-researched, and describes current real-world thinking in this field. It has many good case studies, along with an on-line virtual company case study that is unique. I highly recommend this book.

There are few things I can say after reading this book pretty much from cover to cover:
- Nowadays there are lots of critics of structured SAD, so if you're happen to be one of them, I am pretty sure you will not give this text a good grade. While it does cover Object-Oriented SAD, it is not build upon it. This text (as it seems to me) is revolves around structured SAD using SDLC.
- I liked this text because it has LOTS of colorful diagrams, screen-shots, and charts. This gives a text more alive presentation and makes it more fun to read, even though you're getting lost in terms and abbreviation.
- The text has plenty of abbreviations because SAD process integrates all system components. You can imagine how much data that is, especially considering the fact of collecting that data and organizing it.
- I thing this text by itself will not make you an system analyst. You will need to read more, but it serves well as an introduction to SAD.
The obvious negative thing - these editions that coming up new each year are costly for students, but this is a issue of all comp. textbooks, not just this.

I am s/w professional for last 16 years and System Analyst too. I have seen many books on Systems Analysis but this book is above all. Every subject matter starts from a grass root level...a simple conversation of two s/w people and then the book discuss every details of the subject matter.
The Chapter 5 & 6 is awesome. I never seen any book could explain DFD, ERD, Data Modeling, Data Dictionary, explained so nicely, like this book.
Every chapter has tons of pictures to understand the relevance.
The book discussed all 3 (or 4 I should say) ways of Systems Analysis. Most book limits only to either SSAD or O-O or Agile. This is the only book covers all three methods!!
Writing style is excellent. Brings my interest and draw my full attention.
MS Visio, Visible Analyst, MS Project and many other tools use and screen shots in the book makes the book professional and realistic.
Without any doubt, this is the best book on Systems Analysis I have seen in my s/w professional career...!

Dear All,
I bought this book for my Systems Analysis & Design Course ..
I would highly recommend this book especially if you wish to pursue a career as a Systems Analysis or Business Analysis..
However Business aspects and not that covered in this book.Its more towards Systems Analysis..
If you want to gain maximum benefit from this book then please do solve the
"team tasks" and "projects" mentioned at the end of each chapter, since this will give you a realization of real world scenarios..
The online support for this book is excellent for online resources..
This book will give you a complete overview of Systems Analysis & Design process from a naive user perspective. It covers various important topics like JAD/RAD/Agile methodologies in a short and precise manner..

This book is a must reading for all persons that are working in the software industry ,I've more than 10 years in Software development and project management and I'm learning a lot from this book,the style is easy to follow and comprehend.
If you want to learn about what it takes to be a brilliant system analyst then stick with this book.
